Guidelines and Regulations

Welcome to the 18th Addis International Film Festival (AIFF) organized by Initiative Africa. We invite filmmakers from around the world to be part of this celebration of human rights through the art of cinema. Please read the following guidelines and regulations carefully.

Festival Dates: The 18th AIFF will take place from May 15th to May 19th in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

We invite filmmakers to explore narratives that showcase the transformative power of human resilience and the potential for positive change in our world.

Submission Categories: AIFF is accepting entries exclusively in the human rights documentary category. Submissions can be of any length, including short and feature-length documentaries.

Eligibility: Documentaries submitted should have been produced after January 2021 and must focus on human rights issues.

Submission Deadline: The submission deadline for the 18th AIFF is April 1,2024.

Authorization: By submitting a documentary to AIFF, the submitter authorizes AIFF to use promotional material, including up to 2-minute clips of the documentary, for any promotional activity related to the festival. This may include broadcasting on websites, and AIFF's official platforms.

Screening Authorization: The submitter grants AIFF the right to screen the submitted documentary during the main event, mid-cycle screenings, and the AIFF Package 2024. AIFF does not charge any screening fees.
