Welcome to the 2018 12th Addis International Documentary Film Festival.After eight years, it really does seem like each year keeps getting better. The goal of the Addis Festival, as it’s known in the City, is to raise awareness among the public on international issues, to inform, educate and question what we see. It also aims to facilitate creative, contemplative minds and to assemble filmmakers and movie lovers in a community where they can discuss their interests.
As usual, this year’s festival will deliver a hugely diverse array of compelling documentaries, instructive workshops and panels, and other special events. I encourage everyone to try to push you with topics and ideas that may be unfamiliar or uncharacteristic to you. So, if you have some free time, or need a break from the end of the day work load, then come and experience the art of documentary films. Take a chance and see something new. You may be surprised how much there is to learn, and how many places there are to see, and new people to meet.
