The AIFF team is pleased to announce that it is now accepting short (up to 30 minutes long) and feature (50 minutes+ long) documentary films for this year's edition of AIFF. Submissions can be made HERE.

Rules & Terms

Film Criteria:

  • Only films completed after January 2017 are eligible to apply.

  • AIFF accepts shorts (under 30min) and Feature length films (over 50min).

  • Genres shown at AIFF include Documentary, animation, experimental and narrative.

  • Films made in languages other than English should have subtitles in English.

  • No film selected may be withdrawn from the festival program after its publication.

  • AIFF no longer accepts DVD submissions. All films must be submitted digitally via the online submission form located HERE!

 

Selection Procedure

AIFF’s film selection committee will select documentaries that will be screened at the 14th AIFF. When a film is selected, the festival will notify the filmmakers of the selection no later than April 30th, 2020. Filmmakers will also receive AIFF logo in digital form for publicity purposes.

 

Audience Awards

At the 14th Edition of AIFF, young filmmakers and women filmmakers will have the opportunity to vie for exciting awards (scholarships to film school scholarships, film cameras, certificates and of course, cash awards). Submit your films under one of the following two Award Categories:

  1. Young Filmmakers Category: Ethiopian film makers (male and female) under the age of 30 can submit their films under this category and compete for ‘AIFF Young Filmmaker of the Year Award’

  2. Women Filmmakers Category: Ethiopian women film makers of any age can submit their short and feature films under this category to compete for ‘AIFF Woman Filmmaker of the Year Award’

 

Audience Award Winners Selection

The participating audience at AIFF will choose winners of AIFF Young Filmmaker of the Year Award and AIFF Woman Filmmaker of the Year Award from films selected by AIFF film selection committee.

  • All decisions made by AIFF film selection committee and the AIFF Audience are final. Submission of films to the AIFF indicates acceptance of the Festival rules, regulations and submission guidelines.

  • A list of selected films will be published on the festival website and unless otherwise requested, all information contained on the entry form will be made public on the official festival website: www.addisfilmfestival.org

  • Once a film has been selected it cannot be withdrawn from the festival program during the event.
