"What once began as an idea continued as tradition". 

I would like to welcome you to the 13th Edition of the Addis International Film Festival (AIFF), the longest running all-documentary film festival in Africa. AIFF started in 2007 to provide a platform for documentary film professionals wanting to tell stories and convey realities that would otherwise not have made it to you.

By giving a voice to the marginalized and showing films that shatter taboos, our festival’s aim is to promote professional collaboration and foster the development of independent film – while celebrating diversity on screen. This inspiring event draws local and international audiences to experience documentary films and the compelling art and culture they highlight.

As you will see in our catalog, AIFF presents the best in documentary, experimental films, animation, hybrid works, and more. All of this would not have been possible without our friends, partners and sponsors.
